I was thinking yesterday to buy a Christmas tree in the mall. There were a lot of Christmas trees in the mall displayed. Their prices are quite expensive. The smaller one (6 feet in height) cost 1500.00 pesos while the taller one cost 3 thousand pesos. I have a lot of live Christmas trees in my garden but my wife insisted to buy the artificial plastic made Christmas tree. I don't know why she likes most the plastic one. Since Christmas trees are very much expensive and its decorations needed, I decided to get in my cabinet some old Christmas accessories that I used it on previous years. Christmas balls, glitters and other accessories can still be used. All you need is to clean it from dust and restore it. It's like brand new thing if you just know how to design it. A movie on the Filipino family earned praise following its showing in The Netherlands last September, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Saturday night.

The DFA Web site (www.dfa.gov.ph) said Philippine ambassador Romeo Arguelles joined Filipinos in the premier of "Ina...Anak, Pamilya" at the Lumiere Cinema in Maastricht Sept. 28.

"The movie, which was produced with a modest budget, drew praises from the audience (mainly Filipinos with their Dutch partners), many of whom were emotionally affected by the movie's theme, that Filipinos abroad must never forget to reinforce the concept of family as one of the strongest basic institutions of Philippine society," it said.

Also, the families left behind were reminded to value the hard-earned income generated by their loved ones abroad.

In addition to the showing in Maastricht, another premier was also conducted the day before in Amsterdam, where attendees benefited from training on financial literary awareness.

Following the showing for both events, an open forum took place where Filipinos and their foreign spouses identified the need for better financial planning awareness.

Such awareness involves not only the Filipino working abroad but also the family he or she leaves behind.

The twin showing in The Netherlands, organized by Mai Dizon-Anonuevo, executive director of ATIKHA-Overseas Workers and Communities Initiatives Inc., drew more than 150 guests.

Hong Kong authorities says tests have showed the amount of melamine in Britain's Cadbury chocolate and cookies exceed a safe level for human consumption.

The two contaminated samples announced Sunday are among a list of 11 Chinese-made products being recalled in parts of Asia and the Pacific by the British candy maker.

The center says samples of the brand's Dairy Milk Cookies Chocolate and Dairy Milk Hazelnut Chocolate Bulk Pack have been found to contain melamine above the city's legal limit.

Calls to Cadbury offices in London and Asia Pacific went unanswered Sunday.

Cadbury has said preliminary tests showed traces of melamine in chocolates produced at its Beijing factory, but the exact level was not known.

BEIJING (AP) — China's food safety watchdog said Sunday no traces of the industrial chemical melamine were found in new tests of milk powder sold domestically, as officials sought to restore public trust in milk supplies.

The tests of 129 batches of baby milk powder and 212 batches of other kinds of milk powder showed they were free from melamine contamination, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said on its Web site.

Milk powder containing melamine has been blamed for killing four babies and sickening more than 54,000 infants with kidney stones and other illnesses in China.

The latest tests were on baby formula and other kinds of milk powder produced after Sept. 14, when the scandal broke, the watchdog said. Quality supervisors have been stationed in baby milk powder production facilities to oversee the process.

The scandal has sparked global concern about Chinese food imports and recalls in several countries of Chinese-made products including milk powders, biscuits and candies such as the widely sold White Rabbit sweets, which have been pulled from shelves in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

On Saturday, the safety regulator said tests of milk in liquid form had found no melamine. It was the second time in less than a week that the authority said tests of liquid milk products showed no contamination.

The food safety watchdog had said last week that tests of milk powder products for adults manufactured before Sept. 14 had found the chemical.

The government has been struggling to contain public dismay over widespread contamination of milk supplies, castigating local officials for negligence while promising to keep stores supplied with clean milk.

Chinese authorities believe suppliers trying to boost output diluted their milk, adding melamine because its nitrogen content can fool tests measuring protein content.

The Agriculture Ministry, meanwhile, said it is providing subsidies to Chinese dairy farmers badly hit by declining demand for milk. Many farmers have been tossing out raw milk as they are squeezed by feed costs they can't recoup due to waning demand.

Jessica Alba grabbed herself a fruity drink running errands around Los Angeles yesterday afternoon. Most of you thought Jessica's latest Declare Yourself ad was more scary than effective but its admirable that the new mom made time for the provocative photo shoot that's causing so much buzz. Causing an even bigger reaction, however, was seeing Jessica's post baby bikini body down in Cabo last week though according to In Touch the actress is apparently still trying to motivate herself to drop a few more pounds by buying clothing in her old sizes. She looks pretty fantastic already especially when she has Honor to put a smile on her face.

Oscar dela Hoya-Pacquiao match is what many boxing fanatics are waiting for

Oscar De La Hoya wants to fight at least a couple more times after taking on Filipino hero Manny Pacquiao on Dec. 6 in Las Vegas, in what is sure to be the biggest fight of the year.
“There’s no doubt about it. My mind can still do it, my body can still do it,” De La Hoya said below the Statue of Liberty on Wednesday.
De La Hoya broke box-office and pay-per-view records with his narrow loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. last year, and boxing’s most bankable star said that fight proved he could still compete.
“Let’s say I retired after the Mayweather fight,” he said. “I would have come back. There’s no doubt about it. I’m definitely going to fight after this.”
Accustomed to being the smaller fighter, for once it was De La Hoya (39-5, 30 KOs) who towered over Pacquiao.
Pound-for-pound king Pacquiao (47-3-2, 35 KOs) didn’t have a problem carrying his speed to lightweight when he knocked out David Diaz in June, and thinks he’ll be stronger at welterweight.
“Some people are criticizing Oscar for picking on a small guy like me,” Pacquiao, a 5-foot-6 southpaw, said. “Some people say I’m picking this fight for the money. I’m going to prove everyone wrong.”
There should be plenty of intriguing story lines.
Pacquiao’s longtime trainer is Freddie Roach, who also prepared De La Hoya for his bout against Mayweather. Roach confided that he saw something in the later rounds against Mayweather that Pacquiao can use to his advantage.
“I learned a lot during that nine-week period and now I’m going to use it against him,” Roach said.
